What Are Eczema
Skin Symptoms?
|
How
do eczema skin symptoms look like? Here is one taken from own personal
portfolio – yes, I have been diagnosed with eczema by a skin specialist.
However, I have been told that my condition is considered mild and should
be easily controlled. If you look elsewhere on the web or more into this
site, you will feel saddened by eczema pictures that look much worse.
Eczema skin symptoms are characterized by red, itchy, scaly and inflamed
skin. If the intensity is moderate to severe, eczema skin is also raw
and swollen and sometimes, with crusting, scaling or bleeding. Your skin
is also especially dry. Excessive dryness irritates the skin further,
causing you to scratch. Scratching however does not help the situation.
In fact, it worsens your eczema skin symptoms, resulting in patches of
skin oozing clear fluid and increasing the possibility of introducing
secondary bacterial infections when you scratch your broken skin.
Eczema is a skin disorder that can affect just about anyone; from an infant to the elderly. Eczema is also just as common in males as it is in females. Eczema attacks come and go. There may be long periods of blemish free skin before an attack happens.
The most common type of eczema is known as atopic eczema. It inflicts about one out of every eight or nine children. An estimated thirty percent of babies are likely to develop the disorder. The good news is that about three quarters of the babies and young children who develop eczema will outgrow it before they become teenagers or at least, before their twenties.
Most of the children with eczema skin symptoms tend to also develop other allergy related disorders. These include food allergies, allergy to dust, asthma or hay fever. These children will also most probably have especially dry skins for the rest of their lives. Children most often develop eczema skin symptoms on their faces but also elsewhere including hands and legs. Take comfort that in most cases, the first signs of improvement usually start on their faces before other parts of their body.
Another type of eczema is known as varicose eczema. Eczema skin symptoms in this class usually start in the later periods of your life. Poor circulation of blood to your legs is often cited as triggering the onset of an outbreak. In this case, eczema skin symptoms show up in your ankles causing a speckled appearance that is also sore and itchy.
Currently there is no known cure for eczema. Treatment for eczema skin symptoms usually comprise of steroid creams and/or special emollients, or if you have a bacteria infection, antibiotics as well as other prescription drugs to make you sleepy and prevent itching. However, many are trying out natural eczema treatments in a bid for relief from itching and to clear toxins from within.
