Eczema Natural Treatment: Doctor Fish Therapy In Singapore

Back in June, I reported about Doctor Fish Therapy as a natural treatment for skin disorders. Doctor Fish Therapy is a therapy that originated from Turkey using tiny toothless Turkish spa fish, of the Garra rufa species, to nibble off dead skin on your hands and feet.

According to today’s Sunday Times (Singapore’s main newspaper), it seems that this form of therapy is also getting very popular in Singapore, with three centers being opened since the past year. Doctor Fish Therapy has already gained quite a following in Japan, South Korea, China and Europe.

The sensation of having hundreds of tweezers and tiny suction cups pecking away at the skin have not deterred its supporters. There have been glowing testimonials from those who have tried the Doctor Fish Therapy in the three centers. They report of visibly smoother skin and many believed that it can treat psoriasis skin.

What is interesting is that the papers also reported that the three outlets claim that they do not allow people with open wounds in the pool, to prevent risk of infection. Ultra-violet disinfecting systems for the water have also been installed.

If hygiene is an issue to you, then I would think that it is worth trying only the outlet at Kampong Fish Therapy in Novena Ville. It is more pricey (at $38 for 30 minutes for the feet) compared to the Fish Spa, Qian Hu Fish Farm ($10 for 30 minutes) because you get your own tub rather than sharing with others in a communal pool. Obviously, those with eczema, psoriasis and other skin problems should only go for the one at Kampong Fish Therapy.
