Energy Saving Light Bulbs Can Cause Eczema
Filed Under Eczema Treatment, Care for Eczema Skin, Eczema News
This may sound unbelievable but the latest warning issued by the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) and Spectrum in a report on Dailymail.co.uk is that environmentally-friendly light bulbs can cause eczema eruptions in those with sensitive skin conditions. The warning goes as far as saying that the bulbs can also cause light sensitivities that result in skin cancer.
President of BAD, Dr. Colin Holden said that “It is essential that such patients are able to protect themselves from specific wavelengths of light emitted by fluorescent bulbs, especially as they are often trapped indoors because they can`t venture out in natural sunlight.” People with lupus are also asked to be especially careful.
Well, it seems that choosing a light bulb for your home, if you have sensitive skin, boils down to this: Eczema or the Environment.

are you talking about compact fluorescent bulbs? Or the old fashioned fluorescent bulbs?
It appears that Adelle Davis’ work holds true even now. 30 years ago, in her book, “Let’s eat well to keep fit,” she documented the effect of florescent lights on the human eye, and suggested a Vitamin A supplement to counter act it. Furthermore, she said that eczema was created by an incorrect lactose to milk fat ratio in baby formula (Let’s Have Healthy Children). She gave a recipe for solving this problem. I used it on my 6-month-old son who was had eczema completely covering his body and within a week the eczema was gone, never to return.
See if you can find her invaluable, now-out-of-print books to get some well-researched data on solving exzema before it becomes permanent.
Is there any way to have the new compact fluorescent bulbs & protect skin from damage? I have severe eczema & am a strong environmentalist. This news is very upsetting.
