Eczema Diet To Inclue Omega 3 Oil

Omega 3 oil is one of a number of oils which is highly recommended for inclusion in your eczema diet. Studies show that eczema sufferers lack sufficient oils; thus impacting on the elasticity and formation of their skin. Consequently, they have dry skin that is easily irritated and more liable to itch. Hence, it would make sense to consume Omega 3 oil so that you can moisturize and lubricate your skin from within.
Omega 3 is known as an essential fatty acid. Other than being required for the formation of healthy skin, this type of fatty acid is essential for the smooth functioning of several different areas of your body. It can assist your nervous system in operating at higher levels, hence helping you with better brain functioning and lower stress levels. Stress is a major eczema trigger as well; hence, this makes Omega 3 helpful for your eczema diet too.
Omega 3 is also known to help with maintaining regular cholesterol levels. Support for bones, joints and formation of healthy hair are other benefits that you can derive when you include omega 3 as part of your [tag-ice]eczema diet[/tag-ice]. Omega 3 oil is best found to be in fish. Hence, include fatty fish like salmon, tuna and mackerel in your eczema diet. You can also find Omega 3 oil in the form of flax oil that you can use for cooking. Nuts, especially walnuts, also usually provide a good amount of Omega 3 oil in your system.
It is of course, best that you obtain Omega 3 from natural sources of food for your [tag-tec]eczema diet[/tag-tec]. To determine if you have consumed Omega 3 in adequate frequency and amounts, monitor your meals for a period. Additionally, you would also need to check with a health practitioner or doctor for a recommended dosage for your [tag-dtec]eczema diet[/tag-dtec]. If you find it hard to consume enough of natural foods containing Omega 3, then you should get a high quality supplement containing fatty acid in it.

Do We Need More Drugs For Eczema?
Filed Under Eczema Treatment, Eczema Causes | 2 Comments
I read this newly published article from The Herald about eczema with much interest (and much horror).
According to the article, which we already know, recent research has identified a defective gene in [tag-tec]eczema[/tag-tec] sufferers that cause dry skin. This gene is responsible for the production of the protein filaggrin, which helps the skin form a protective layer. Without this protective layer, water loss from the body cannot be effectively prevented. Also, allergens cannot be prevented from getting in. Hence, [tag-dtec]eczema[/tag-dtec] sufferers end up with dry skin and an inflammatory response by their immune system to allergens.
What followed in the article is that with the genetic discovery, it is hoped that more drugs or creams can be developed to provide an improved skin-barrier function.
*Pause*
My immediate thoughts: do we need more drugs for eczema? Can a miracle cream help to provide the protein filaggrin? I’m assuming here that this miracle cream would be using synthetic chemicals for its production.
Drugs are not totally safe and many, such as steroids, do pose serious side effects. If you don’t know it by now, even the new class of immunosuppresant drugs, marketed as as non-steroid based and safe for [tag-ice]eczema[/tag-ice] sufferers, is now linked to cancer. Their manufactuers have said that these drugs have passed numerous testings before being put on the market.
Also, I’m wondering why with the genetic discovery, it is not mentioned that more research would be poured into finding natural sources of nutrition to help make up for the deficiency in protein filaggrin instead. I may be wrong but my guess is that the research study is funded by a big pharmaceutical company.
One thing is obvious to me. I won’t be waiting 10 years (apparently needed for clinical trials and testings) for these drugs or miracle creams. I’lll be continuing my search into natural healing as I strongly believe that this is the best approach for my skin and health.
